BCM 212 – A3(Reflection)

Following the completion of this questionnaire, I discovered that some students did not join the club for a variety of reasons, some of which were objective in nature. However, there were also subjective factors, such as students who did not pay enough attention to the club or who were unsure of the club’s function and role. This is also a reflection of the fact that many clubs are not as excellent as they may be in terms of performance and results. As a result, I urge college students to participate in clubs in a responsible manner while also advocating for the improvement of clubs on an ongoing basis. The university should work to enhance the mechanism of clubs, regulate their activities, and guide them in a constructive and healthy direction as they grow and develop. While at the same time, students should be directed through the process of selecting a club, understanding the objective of joining a club, and participating in club activities. Students should be more judicious and proper in their selection of clubs, and they should reap the benefits of their choices. Concerning clubs, schools should raise the quality of club activities to the point where students can truly benefit from them, something that they cannot acquire from books, such as social skills, hands-on skills, collaborative skills. At the same time, the frequency of club events should be controlled in a reasonable manner so that the club can support the students’ study needs without interfering with their studies themselves. In terms of propaganda, the school should amplify the messages of successful clubs and demonstrate to students the advantages and disadvantages of each club, allowing students to understand the organization better. Using real-world achievements of clubs to demonstrate their strengths, reinforce the creation of brand clubs, increase their attractiveness, and provide a stronger platform for college students’ activities is more crucial than ever. Positive, healthy, and meaningful club activities should be carried out by clubs in order to grow their influence and establish their activities as a part of the campus culture. Clubs should also communicate with one another, as well as with the school and the wider community.

BCM 212 – A3 (Opinion piece)

To investigate whether college students still have the energy and motivation to join clubs in the face of heavy pressure from coursework during college. For this purpose, I designed a questionnaire aimed at studying this issue. The survey method was employed in this survey, and the rationale for using it was primarily because it is straightforward to manage and evaluate the results of the questionnaire in a statistically valid manner (Kahneman et al., 2004, p. 1780). By using the survey method, I can cut down on the amount of time, money, and people I spend doing the survey itself. The quantification of results gained through survey methodologies is not a complex undertaking. Given that “a questionnaire survey is a structured survey in which the form and order of survey questions, as well as the way and how often respondents respond, have been predetermined, and that it is written communication, no individual, whether the researcher or the investigator” (Kahneman et al., 2004, p. 1780), has the ability to introduce subjective bias into the survey research findings. Furthermore, I use online surveys to communicate with respondents in a more concise and efficient way. They can fill out the survey anytime and anywhere as long as they have Internet access, which saves a lot of time and workforce compared to traditional surveys (Granello & Wheaton, 2004, p. 387). The questionnaire consisted of 10 questions, including nine multiple-choice questions and one open-ended question. The first question was the respondent’s grade level. The second question was what the respondent thought was their biggest gain from being in the club. The third question was whether or not the respondents thought that their involvement in clubs had an impact on their studies during their time at university. The fourth question was what they would do when faced with a conflict between their studies and club activities. The fifth question was whether or not the clubs they joined were helpful to their growth. The sixth question was how did they feel about participating in clubs. The seventh question was how often the respondents participated in clubs, if at all. The eighth question was about their attitudes towards clubs activities. The ninth question was how many clubs that the respondents is attending right now. The last question was an open-ended question that asked the respondents’ opinion on whether they should join a club or not and why.

I randomly selected a total of 50 college students as the subjects of my survey questionnaire. Among these 50 questionnaires, there were no incomplete questionnaires, and every questionnaire was usable. Among them, 35% were freshmen, 26% were sophomores, 32% were juniors, and 7% were seniors. The distribution is fairly even and basically, represents the different ideas of students in each grade. For the sake of privacy, all the questionnaires they filled out were anonymous, and before filling out the questionnaires, I also clearly told them the purpose of the survey and the processing and analysis of the collected data. I also made sure that each participant was voluntary and that the questionnaires were given to them at their convenience (Fox, Murray & Warm, 2003, p. 170). Of the students who took the survey, 28% thought that participating in clubs during college had a slight impact on their studies, and 6% of the participants thought that clubs had a very strong impact on their studies. The rest of them are artificial that clubs do not affect their study. When faced with the conflict between study and club activities, 83% of the students would put their study first, 5% would put club activities first, and the rest of the respondents thought they could balance their club and study well. It can be seen that 92% of the students participate in clubs, of which 74% participate in one club, 10% in two clubs, and 8% in three or more clubs. 70% of respondents who participate in clubs believe that the activities of clubs are well organized and effective, indicating that the activities of clubs are popular, while only 22% believe that the activities of clubs need to be developed. College students participate in clubs, according to their responses to the open-ended questions, in order to better exercise themselves and enrich their knowledge, expand their horizons, broaden their knowledge, and lay a certain foundation for forming a complete ability structure and adapting to the needs of the broader society in the future, among other reasons. In addition, several of the responders gave suggestions for how the clubs could be made better in the future. They proposed that, first and foremost, the clubs’ public relations could be enhanced in order to increase students’ comprehension of the groups. Exhibitor boards, posters, periodicals, and magazines are available on campus for the purpose of publicizing clubs.

BCM206 – Digital Artefact for Techno New

Do people really understand technology? I don’t think so. Maybe, but not quite. Witnessing many technological advances, the creation and use of technology has an important place in our lives, society and environment. Science and technology provide our civilization with material life and change. Our group has spent the past 13 weeks developing a social news platform to satisfy all the technical doubts and in-depth understanding of the audience, which will serve as our digital artifacts. On this platform, we carefully select fresh articles and information. Help our followers keep abreast of the latest technological advances. Each week we offer material on a theme such as IPHONE 13, 5G progress, artificial intelligence and self-driving cars.

We set the platform for Techno News on Instagram. In our initial vision, we were primarily delivering content as still images, and we wanted to give the audience as much information as possible, but that wasn’t ideal. It’s not going to excite our platform audience, and it’s not going to attract new audiences to our platform. Also, when we started Techno News, we thought our secret weapon was Kahoot. Because the purpose of our platform is to educate and inspire, we decided to make the learning process more enjoyable by encouraging our target audience to complete our quizzes. Therefore, we used Kahoot. Our team reasoned that by using Kahoot, we would be able to determine if our fans were reading our posts. However, the feedback we got was still not good, such as the uncertainty of the problem or the limitation of the play time. Our platform is about informing and educating our users, not challenging them. Therefore, we finally decided to abandon Kahoot. Our team has also floated the idea of a YouTube channel, but that seems a bit redundant. Since we were going to post the same thing on Instagram, with an extra discussion section, we were worried that no one would listen, so we decided to scrap the idea of a YouTube channel. So we were confused at the beginning. It’s not easy to develop science journalism. Because of this, we have updated the platform after repeated communication. It’s a new experience and a slow learning process.

In the interim stage, our group conducted research and discussion. After gathering feedback from our audience, we are confident that we can fix our mistakes. We’ve redesigned the platform with an entirely new format that combines video with our regular digital visual updates. We used FIST design principles to create carefully condensed text that included a visual component in our original design. To keep the audience interested, we used emoticons, GIFs and short films to grab the audience’s attention. We are happy to see the improvements that our new structure has brought, we are getting more audience interaction and good feedback. We went one step further for Techno News.

We’ve also made a lot of changes to the way our platform is presented. First, we carefully arranged five questions for our weekly voting session so as not to overwhelm our viewers. If our fans have any difficulty with these questions, they can quickly scan the article. Another useful thing about IG Story surveys is that our viewers can take surveys anytime they want during their 24 hours of free time. Second, we have changed the way we edit articles. In the beginning, we included as much information as possible in our articles, informing our audience in 10 images per article. However, we noticed a lack of user engagement because our followers weren’t reading our posts. To solve this problem, we developed a new format to make the article more concise and keep the content interesting. Our user interaction has increased!

Understanding and collecting opinions and suggestions from our platform audience has been a big change for our team; It’s been very beneficial for us to be able to connect with our fans and improve our platform. It is critical to the continued evolution of our digital artifacts. We appreciate all of our viewers’ feedback, and we make every effort to respond to every comment quickly and accurately. We’d love for viewers to leave a comment or their thoughts in the comments section, and we’ll do everything we can to respond quickly! Audience input is very valuable and keeps us improving the quality of the platform!

Finally, I’d like to say that developing Techno News was not easy. Over the past three months, we’ve been researching this digital product, which has given me a better understanding of how to run a proper online business and manage their social media accounts. From curating content to generating user engagement, we’ve had a lot of ups and downs. Sometimes our team members don’t agree on one thing or another, but that’s okay. We need to keep talking, keep bumping, and the results will be good. This digital artifact was a huge learning experience for me, I learned a lot of new skills, and it helped me a lot. Also let me understand the whole process and process of the construction of a platform. It’s a very special experience. Techno News has made significant progress through countless revisions and tweaks. This is something to be happy about.

In addition, I want to talk about the data. Below is our T’echno News‘s analysis chart for October. Compared to September, we added 55 accounts, an increase of 129%, and we were also able to attract non-followers (19 accounts, increase of 375%) to view our profiles. Analysis of the past 30 days from October 21 to November 19. We had 308 content interactions (up 140% from September 21 – October 2). Our post interactions, which include likes, comments, saves and shares, rose 150%. The data are encouraging for us, it’s prefect!

BCM206 Analytical Blog post-2

The future network refers to the new generation Internet which is outside the Internet and can meet the needs of the future social network. In 2007, the International Standards Organization and the International Institute of Electrical Engineering (ISO/IEC) launched the “Decimal Network International Standardization Project". Its purpose is to use empty cup design and new architecture to develop a new generation of network system supported by a complete software and hardware system, which can exist independently from the existing Internet system and have the ability of international interconnection. Since the development of the Internet in the 1970s, it has provided multiple convenience and has become an indispensable part of life, including e-mail, instant messaging, video conferencing, blog, social network, online shopping, etc., all highly dependent on the Internet. However, the existing network still faces the problem of insufficient security.

https://www.nsdinc.com/network-security-solutions/network-security-4/

Network rebellion, hacker organization and hacker doctrine, and network warfare are all threatening network security. The current network social situation is not optimistic, and the future network is even more unpredictable. In my opinion, human factor is the root cause of the insecurity of computer information network.

There are many factors that make computer information unsafe, including human factors, natural factors and occasional factors. Among them, the human factor means that some criminals take advantage of the loopholes in the computer network, or sneak into the computer room, steal computer system resources, illegally obtain important data, tamper with system data, destroy hardware equipment, and compile computer viruses. The attacker accessed the information resources without authorization and tampered with the information. This is a threat to the integrity of information. The problem of network security has always been a serious issue.

In the wake of the global financial crisis in 2008, on November 1st of the same year, a man who identified himself as Satoshi Nakamoto published a bitcoin white paper “Bitcoin: a peer-to-peer electronic cash system" on the P2P foundation website, setting out his new vision for electronic currency– Bitcoin. On January 3, 2009, the Bitcoin Genesis Block was born. But some people worry that Bitcoin will become a hotbed of drug trafficking, money laundering and other illegal activities. A website called Silk Road, which set up a platform for lawbreakers to trade bitcoin, was shut down by US authorities earlier this month. Us police said on Oct. 25 that they found $2.8 million worth of bitcoin on the computer of the site’s owner, Ross William Ubrich.(The information comes from the network.)The emergence and trading of Bitcoin is not conducive to network security, and even threatens the law and national security. Similarly, as long as there is a reasonable use and regulation of Bitcoin, it can be used as a driving force to promote online transactions. Bitcoin also has some advantages, it is completely decentralized, there is no issuer, it is impossible to manipulate the number of issues. Its distribution and circulation is realized through open source P2P algorithm. In addition, it is also robust. Bitcoin is completely dependent on P2P networks and has no distribution center, so it cannot be shut down externally. Bitcoin prices may fluctuate, collapse, and governments may declare it illegal, but Bitcoin and its vast peer-to-peer networks will not disappear.

Nowadays, virtual currency is playing the role of currency in some aspects and has the function of representing commodity value. For example, bitcoin can be traded and traded in the virtual market. However, these virtual currencies can only circulate in a fixed range, which has also become the biggest disadvantage of virtual currency. They can not become the legal tender of the state and can only represent the value of a certain product. They are only acceptable to a small number of businesses, and customers can not pay freely or circulate freely.

Virtual currency also needs to be attached to the third-party online financial platform, which also limits the scope of use of virtual currency.(Liu Manman,2020) Therefore, at this stage, internet currency can not replace traditional currency to trade freely in the market.

The traditional financial risk that investors’ asset prices change due to market factors still exists in Internet financial risk. However, the more representative risk comes from credit risk, which is the risk of investors’ loss due to the default of counter parties. The second is liquidity risk, which is the risk of loss to investors when investors cannot sell the subject matter at a reasonable price.

Network security and stability riskIf the network is missing or there are huge hidden dangers of network security, Internet finance is like a fish without water, unable to serve customers normally.(Xu minyang,2019) Today’s Internet technology has developed to a relatively mature level. However, there are still many unknown network security problems, such as unavoidable human and objective factors, and the Internet may lose its function. On the other hand, the Internet may be paralyzed by hacker attacks or virus intrusion.

Internet banking is becoming more and more popular. On the basis of traditional banks, Internet banking expands various businesses of banks to the Internet, which can expand the business of originally limited business outlets to more customers through the Internet, receive more customers, attract investors and improve efficiency at the same time. There is also a virtual bank completely based on the Internet.(Dmitry Namiot,2019) Its main body is on the Internet, but it has some physical branches. Such banks have not yet been used on a large scale. The biggest feature of Internet banking is that it can intelligently record customer information and conduct screening and analysis. Be able to analyze customers’ behavior habits through data, identify different customers’ financial needs, consumption habits and other information, and design corresponding demand, financial management and other financial products for customers according to these data.

Further popularization of online paymentNow we have contacted and can skillfully use many online payment methods, such as Alipay and WeChat payment. Many enterprises integrate online and offline. Many entity businesses or network enterprises support third-party online payment. (Johannes Thones,2019)Online payment has brought great convenience to our life. However, in some economically backward places, online payment has not been widely used. In addition, online payment technology has not appeared for a long time. Many elderly people do not use third-party software for consumption, which hinders the development of Internet finance to a certain extent. Therefore, in the future, we should not only strengthen the publicity of online payment and expand its influence, but also strive to explore and solve some information security problems existing in online payment.

Gradual improvement of credit system constructionWhen it comes to finance, the most important thing is information security. Only a trusted brand can be bigger and

stronger. Similarly, the construction of Internet finance is the same. If you want to make Internet Finance bigger, you must get the trust of the masses. Therefore, we should always strive to improve the credit system construction of Internet Finance in the future. With the accumulation of Internet financial credit, Internet finance can get corresponding advantages in more aspects, so as to strengthen the construction of Internet finance, accelerate the pace of development and promote its development.

The industrial chain financial model will be further expandedThe operation concept of the industrial chain under the traditional financial model is deeply rooted. Now it will be a difficult process to transform. The first thing is to change the traditional perspective of enterprise finance and solve the corresponding problems from the perspective of industrial chain finance.

The financial model of the industrial chain also needs the support of a complete and reliable set of interested parties. We should always ensure that every link in the chain is foolproof. In the past, we paid attention to the cultivation within the enterprise. Now we should also provide good services to these interested parties to provide favorable conditions for the development of Internet finance.

BCM222-Visual essay pitch

Halo, I am Besty. This is my visual essay pitch of BCM 222. The topic I will research in cancel culture.

People are using social media all the time, cancel culture is becoming more common and understood. So what exactly is cancel culture? Let me explain. It is a way of social or group behavior, especially on social media, in which it is common to completely reject or stop supporting someone because they have said or done something offensive to you. Decertification has its place — it helps to call on and purge problematic people from cancel culture. It is our way of exerting some control over an increasingly dangerous and intolerant world.

In cancel culture, we appoint ourselves as arbiters of right and wrong, as well as judge. Also, people will like to use the social media to punish those people.

As we know, Show Lou and Grace Chow incident is a good example. He has become one of the cancel cultures because of his constant scandals and Grace Chow testimony to the media.

In the following research report, I will deeply study the influence of this culture on our arrival and why this phenomenon is so common today. What does this have to do with politics? I hope I can find out.

Techno News is our group’s DA. When we had a group discussion, we found that “our life is related to technology, but people really know the history of technology and related information? “So we decided that Techno News would be a DA for our research. Experienced a month of time, some problems appeared, we need to actively to solve and face. Our audience is very interested in the technology, so we will continue to improve and give back to our followers.

IG @technonews.bcm

We use Instagram to keep students informed of the latest technological developments by Posting short videos and articles. We’ll be providing our fans with interesting tech-related topics every week. Because of the large number of articles in the early stage, the audience gave us feedback that it was too boring and boring, so we would lose the audience and not attract the attention of the public. So we update to a new format, using a short video to show our topic. In a new post about Apple’s Oct. 18 event, we cover the new MacBook Pro, the next generation of AirPods, and the latest additions to Apple’s HomePod line. The new way is presented with concise text and pictures, which allows the audience to easily understand our technical topics.

Originally, we wanted to introduce the audience to technology in Kahoot’s way with fun and easy games, but there were big problems, such as limited playing time and inability to clearly understand knowledge points. So we canceled Kahoot, and polls are now on our IG. Polls have greatly improved our work efficiency, and audiences have accepted and loved them.

Our team cares deeply about whether readers like the content we create and the topics we pick. But we got a response very quickly, which made me very happy, and our work was recognized. Many viewers commented and liked our Ig post. This will be our continuous improvement and renewal of the biggest power!

BCM 241 – Research Project Pitch

My research will focus on Morimoto’s media accounts and more about his news and TV shows. To find out how he attracts the audience’s attention through media, and try to do my articles and research reports.

About ethics: I only know him online. Since his restaurant is not in Hong Kong, this will be a challenge. Audience comments were also limited, and I couldn’t fully consider my research.

RESEARCH QUESTIONS FOR DA ARTICLE:

1. How does Morimoto combine online and offline?

2. How does Morimoto attract the audience’s attention?

3. How does Morimoto use social media to promote its restaurant and dishes?

BCM 241 – Blog 4

In my blog1-3 post, I talk about my media niche and narrow it down to Morimoto. In this blog post, I want to discuss what I have found in other people’s academic research and how it has helped me complete my research. In addition, I will mention the ethical issues I have encountered in my research.

Observations after the study:

After studying Morimoto’s media accounts and related articles, I noticed that Morimoto was noticed by viewers because he was known as on The Japanese TV cooking shows iron Chef and Iron Chef America. He is also known for his unique cooking style. From personal experience, when chefs appear in the media and win awards, they are bound to attract the attention of the audience and make them curious and want to try Morimoto’s cooking. Also, audience wants to know what he has to offer to win in the Iron Chef.

The reason why the media attracts people’s attention is that there is a large amount of information, and it is not restricted by any place. Anyone can access any information on the Internet. I think that’s why I got to know Morimoto through reality shows and follow his media accounts and his updates.

Research Background:

I made use of Morimoto’s Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, official website, TV shows and articles he participated in as platforms for my observation and research. I’m going to look at how Morimoto has managed to reach audiences through his style and his restaurants.

Now, he’s also a public figure. What he posts in the media can be defined as sharing, or advertising for his restaurants. (Elizabeth Arens,2020)Facebook feeds are packed with content from brands people follow as well as their friends, co-workers and every other connection. If you want to grow your audience, you need people to share your content. Any information will be seen and shared by the audience, so I think one of the reasons why Morimoto is famous is because he uses media accounts to spread the word.

Ethical Issues:

When I do my research, I find that there are some ethical issues involved. The reliability of the data may be questioned because Morimoto’s media accounts are personal and may contain inaccurate content, even though it is his official account. And the frequency of Posting messages is also high, which can lead to biased results.

In addition, his restaurant is not in Hong Kong, so I cannot visit him on the spot, I can only get to know him through the Internet. It will be a challenge for me. Audience comments are also limited, and I can’t fully consider my research evidence.

I hope that these obstacles will not prevent me from accurately and appropriately describing my research report.

BCM 241 – Blog 3

In my previous blog, I briefly introduced my choice of media niche and Morimoto media account. Now I need to plan how to finish my research report.

Maybe many people think that top chefs’ cuisine is out of reach, and most people don’t even try it. But now is the age of technology, The Internet is accessible to learn about food from all over the world, including top chefs on the media all the time. I wanted to investigate how Morimoto was able to attract the audience’s attention in media. As I said in my previous blog, I also like to eat food and I will take photos of food. I even hope to be a food blogger to introduce delicious restaurants to the outside world. So, I wanted to take a closer look at how Morimoto achieved such a high fan base and how he attracted audiences.

With the development of social media, we can obviously see that many people are willing to share daily and delicious food with the public on their media accounts. The emergence of this phenomenon provides a new channel for more people to learn about the cuisine of different countries and styles. The same goes for Morimoto’s media account, a top chef and restaurateur who is authoritative and professional.

Morimoto shares a lot of news about his daily routine and restaurants on his media account, and I prefer to watch his competitions and reality shows on YouTube. Because it allows me to understand how each dish is cooked, including the birth, inspiration, and background of each dish. I first learned that Morimoto was watching OMAKASE videos, which prompted me to turn to the Japanese food channel. Then I saw Iron Chef’s channel and realized Morimoto. In the video, I think he is very interesting and explains every step of cooking very clearly. Then I studied his media account and found it very attractive to me. I really hope to have the opportunity to go to his restaurant and try his delicacies. I will analyze my experience through autobiographical ethnography, hoping to better understand the research and methods of daily culture.

My research plan:

For further research, I will investigate and collect relevant data and comments from Morimoto’s media accounts.

Research questions:

1. How does Morimoto combine online and offline?

2. How does Morimoto attract the audience’s attention?

3. How does Morimoto use social media to promote its restaurant and dishes?

Schedule:

Week 5: List the research background and direction

Week 6: Read/Find some social media and articles about Morimoto

Week 7: Organize all the data I find

Week 8: Drafting my research paper

Week 9-10: Finish my research paper

Week 11: Submit your paper!

BCM 241 – Blog 2

The area of media I’m interested in is food related content. If it were to narrow down the media positioning, then I think I would be most interested in Japanese cuisine so I’m going to investigate further about Iron Chef Morimoto, a Japanese Chef (born May 26, 1955, in Hiroshima), He is best known as the Iron Chef on the Japanese TV cooking show Iron Chef and its spin-off show Iron Chef America. He is also known for his unique cooking style. He built a bridge between native Japanese culinary traditions and American tastes, blending Western and Japanese ingredients to critical and popular acclaim, and effectively created an iconic style that has made him one of the top chefs working today. So I’m going in this direction to map potential field sites for my final ethnographic project.

You can see my media research on Mr. Morimoto in my chart. There are roughly three directions.

1. Media channels

His official media accounts include Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, the official website, and a reality show where he has been invited. Then the offline channel is his own restaurant. Since 2001, he has successfully opened 14 stores around the world.

Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter media accounts introduce restaurants and menus with videos and photos. Morimoto also interacts with the audience frequently and is a humorous and optimistic media person.

His official website is divided into three parts, the first is to introduce the restaurant, each restaurant has the story and background (including address and contact information). The second is selling commodities, including Wine, Sake, grapeseed oils and Miso soup. In this case, fans can buy his product online, which is very friendly. Then there are the restaurant’s surrounding areas, such as gift cards and cookbooks.

He also appears on TV shows, so viewers can see him on various food channels.

Twitter

Facebook

Instagram

2. The audience

I think Morimoto can appeal to a very broad audience. They can be food lovers, restaurant patrons, food media and “competitors." Everyone can read about his restaurant, his cooking, his dishes and so on his media account. It can also attract strangers to become fans or customers. Both media workers and “competitors" can get to know him through his media accounts.

3. Interaction and Dynamics

Through my research on several media accounts, Morimoto’s account is updated in a timely manner, and his articles are published in a tone similar to sharing life with friends. Although I don’t see him interacting with the audience that much. But the audience’s love for him shows in the comments.

Because he often posts videos and pictures, it can attract media attention. That’s how business cooperation comes about. A public figure who is active in a media account is very attractive to sponsors and the media!

Morimoto was successful in attracting my attention, and I was thinking of a food blogger.Even now I always have a habit: “Phone eat first"!
